WATCH maker Seiko and Honda have joined forces this autumn, to create a watch that pays tribute to one of the most-produced motorcycles in history, the Honda Super Cub.

The Honda Super Cub is lauded as the most-produced motorcycle on the planet, with an estimated 87 million units since production began in 1958. It was available in engine sizes from 50 to 125cc and is noted as being the bike that got Japan back on its feet in the post-war era. Its lightweight, stunning simplicity, and trademark Honda reliability all helped to make it one of the most common bikes across the globe in the latter part of the 20th century.

To celebrate this feat, Honda and legendary Japanese watchmaker Seiko have worked together to create a watch that celebrates the design style of the iconic machine. It’s based on Seiko’s 5 Sports platform, itself a design that has been around for some 50 years. The face of the watch is designed to ape that of the Super Cub, with the headlight and indicators replicated at the top of the dial. The strap features ‘Honda’ and ‘Super Cub’ branding, while the neatly offset crown shows a fuel gauge like the one found on the bike.

There are two versions of the Seiko 5 Sports Super Cub Limited Edition watch up for grabs, the cream highlighted option, shown at the top, and a darker option, shown directly above. Each is limited to 6,000 and 5,000 units respectively and will come with a special presentation box, a limited edition number on the glass case back. The cream watch can be found on sale for £340 from UK retailers, while the slightly rarer darker option is retailing for £380.
