Brookes plots Snetterton fightback after Knockhill disappointment
Josh Brookes believes both he and the Be Wiser Ducati will suit Snetterton has he looks to respond after Knockhill
Josh Brookes believes both he and the Be Wiser Ducati V4 R package will suit Snetterton has he looks to respond after an underwhelming outing at Knockhill last time out in the Bennetts British Superbike championship.
The 2015 BSB champion, who sits third in the riders’ championship, is 31 points behind leader and team-mate Scott Redding after failing to reach the rostrum at the Scottish round last month with eighth and fourth place finishes in the two races.
Looking to make up lost ground after also slipping five Podium Points behind Redding, Brookes is relishing the trip to the Norfolk track having taken a podium at the circuit in every BSB campaign he’s contested since 2010 – but has been left winless at Snetterton since 2009.
“I want to immediately bounce back after Knockhill and put the disappointment of not scoring a podium well and truly behind us,” Brookes said. “It wasn’t a disaster, but such is the expectation this year the results weren’t great so now I’m only focusing on this weekend.
“I think the track will suit the bike and I love the track, but we need to be continually improving the whole package.
“I’ve had some great results around Snetterton in the past and hope to add a couple more wins to my tally this weekend.”
Snetterton has also been a happy hunting ground for the Paul Bird Motorsport team, with former rider Shane Byrne winning eight of the previous nines races at the ‘300’ track before he was ruled out by injury last year.
12 months ago Leon Haslam claimed a double victory at Snetterton for Kawasaki.
