Lee Jackson emerged top of the timesheets as the British Superbike Championship made its belated return to the track at Donington Park ahead off the much delayed 2020 BSB season.

The first group test to take place this year four months after the opening round was originally scheduled, the outing precedes the Donington Park curtain raiser on August 9.

Leading the way after two days was Superbike returnee Jackson, the Massingberd-Mundy Kawasaki rider coming out top in the final minutes to edge out Jason O’Halloran on the McAMS Yamaha by 0.014s.

Rich Energy OMG Racing continued its seamless transition to BMW machinery with ex-MotoGP rider Hector Barbera turning in the third quickest time, ahead of brothers Glenn and Andrew Irwin, who gave the new Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade a strong showing in fourth and fifth respectively.

Jackson’s team-mate Danny Buchan was sixth quickest, with 2019 runner-up and title favourite Josh Brookes posting the seventh fastest time on the VisionTrack Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Ryan Vickers made it three Kawasakis in the top ten in eighth, with Joe Francis proving his form during the pre-season tests in Spain was no fluke with a ninth on the PR Racing BMW. Bradley Ray rounded out the top ten on the Synetiq BMW.

In all, 27 riders were on track for the test, with just 0.787s covering first down to Christian Iddon in 18th around the shorter National configuration of Donington Park.
