Luke Mossey will sit out round eight of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship after injuring his leg in a spectacular airborne accident during testing at Cadwell Park.

In preparation for the weekend’s event at the Lincolnshire circuit, a one-day test was held on Thursday during which Mossey fell heavily at high-speed coming into the Hall Bends.

High-siding from his OMG Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000, Mossey was launched some distance in the incident and was lucky not to be collected by close-following team-mate Josh Elliott.

Though remarkably Mossey escaped major injury in the accident, a hairline fracture to his leg means he will skip this weekend’s Cadwell Park race. He is replaced by the team’s Superstock 1000 rider and experienced BSB competitor Billy McConnell.

Quick update after yesterday’s off I have a hairline fracture in the top of my leg nothing serious but with the nature of Cadwell it’s just to risky to try and ride, big thanks to the medical team and I’ll be back at oulton in a few weeks time! Ciao @OfficialBSB @OMGRacingUK
