Motocross: Ken Roczen signs for Honda

Official announcement after social media ‘leak’

Motocross: Ken Roczen signs for Honda

HONDA has answered the rumour-mongers with an official announcement that the firm has signed the newly-crowned 2016 AMA Motocross Champion, Ken Roczen.

After an image of the number 94 rider on a Honda “leaked” on social media yesterday, an official announcement came from Honda America today.

The German rider had been the subject of massive speculation in recent weeks over which way he would go but the strongest rumour has been proved correct. Roczen has signed a three-year agreement with Team Honda HRC to ride the all-new CRF450R in America and selected international events.

Roczen said: “I’m always looking to improve myself, as well as my surroundings, team and equipment, which is why I decided to make a switch. I want to have the upper hand on every other rider out there, and I think I have that with Honda.

“Things are still new, but I’m feeling amazing and blown away by the bike and the atmosphere of the team. I think that when any rider makes a switch to a new team, he doesn’t fully know what to expect, so having such a smooth transition so far has been great. Big changes like this are great opportunities to make a statement.”

That statement is news for MX fans around the globe but a Ken Block-inspired video hypes the official news to promote Roczen’s change to The Big Red.
