World Supercross is Heading to Africa For the First Time Ever
South Africa will host its first-ever World Supercross Championship event in 2025

The 2025 World Supercross Championship is getting yet another new location after the first-ever round in Africa has been confirmed by the series organisers.
Following in the footsteps of London and Buenos Aires, which are also first-timers as it relates to destinations in the World Supercross Championship this year, South Africa will host both the 450cc and 250cc categories as part of its debut in the series.
The custom-designed track will be centred in Cape Town’s iconic DHL Stadium which is a venue renowned for hosting major international sports and entertainment events.
While the three new venues in London, Buenos Aires and Cape Town have been confirmed for 2025, the calendar has not yet been finalised as further additions will be revealed in the coming months.

Speaking about the addition of South Africa to the calendar, Tom Burwell, Chief Executive Officer at World Supercross, said: “Expanding our racing calendar into Africa is a historic milestone for World Supercross and a reflection of our ambition to bring supercross to fans in every corner of the globe. South Africa has a rich sporting heritage, and we’re excited to put on a show with world-class riders and a fan first experience. Cape Town’s DHL Stadium is a spectacular venue, and we’re excited to showcase our championship in such an iconic location.”
The new events across the UK, Argentina and South Africa have provided plenty of excitement at a time where World Supercross recently confirmed huge growth figures for 2024.
Overall viewing figures took a big leap forward compared to 2023 as did viewership numbers across individual events. In terms of the upcoming event in London, the nation’s capital will be the third destination in the UK to host a round since 2022 after Cardiff and Birmingham (2023) - World Supercross did not visit the UK in 2024.
