SPANISH 125cc rider Esteve Rabat's team has been caught using illegal fuel.

The Repsol KTM squad had a couple of fuel samples taken after the last round of the championship in Germany and have been caught using fuel not allowed by governing body, the FIM.

Here's the statement from the FIM in full: German Grand Prix – Fuel controls

Decision of Race Directors

Following fuel controls carried out after the German Grand Prix held on the Sachsenring on July 13 last, the fuel sample taken from the motorcycle of Spanish rider Esteve Rabat after the 125cc race was found not in accordance with Art. 2.11.2 of the 2008 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. The rider requested a counter-test with the B sample, which confirmed the results of the A sample analysis.

For this reason, the Race Direction, in a hearing held today at the Brno circuit, decided to exclude Esteve Rabat from the results of the German Grand Prix, according to Art. 2.11.4.2.11 and 12 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. Esteve Rabat had finished 9th in the 125cc race.

No appeal was lodged. The decision of the Race Direction is final.

The result of the race and the 125cc Championship classification are corrected accordingly.
