The MotoGP Kazakhstan GP has been rescheduled to September from its original June date.

After flooding in Central Asia meant the race had to be postponed from its original June date, the Kazakhstan round of the World Championship will now take place on 20-22 September.

This is the date originally planned for the Indian Grand Prix, and is two weeks after the final race of the main European season in Aragon.

The confirmation of the Kazakhstan race on this date is in turn confirmation of the cancellation of the Indian Grand Prix, which had been rumoured throughout the past couple of months over outstanding payments.

It means that MotoGP fans in India will have to wait until March 2025 to see Grand Prix bikes around the Buddh International Circuit. This has been made possible by pushing the Qatar Grand Prix back from its usual season-opening calendar position to better align the race around religious holidays.

The news comes just a couple of weeks after the CEO of Fairstreet Sports, Pushkar Nath Srivastava, confirmed the event was still going ahead. Speaking on 15 May to The Times of India he said “The race is very much on […] These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June.”

Speaking about the updated calendar, Srivastava told the Indian news agency, PTI “It was mutually decided to shift the race to March next year. We are looking at the first or second week of March … All the stakeholders including Dorna agreed that the September weather is not conducive for the race and it is tough on the riders and marshals as experienced last year.”

MotoGP continues its mid-season European tour this weekend, as the Italian Grand Prix takes place at the stunning Mugello circuit in Northern Italy.
