Pedercini Kawasaki adds Aussie Lachlan Epis to WorldSBK rider roster
Aussie racer Lachlan Epis will become the fifth different ridet to compete with the Outdo TPR Kawasaki team in the 2021 WorldSBK Championship
Outdo TPR Team Pedercini will welcome its fifth different rider for the 2021 WorldSBK Championship with the hiring of Lachlan Epis ahead of the Barcelona round of the season.
The Australian rider currently competes in his domestic Superbike series aboard a BMW, but has experience of the international paddock with a stint in the WorldSSP Championship with 35 starts between 2016 and 2020, while he has also appeared in the British Superbike Championship.
With no racing taking place in Australia as a consequence of lockdown measures being imposed at state-level, Epis said it was an easy decision to accept Pedercini Kawasaki’s offer to compete at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
“I was quite surprised to receive a call last week about an opportunity to race in WorldSBK with Outdo TPR Team Pedercini,” Epis said.
“With no racing going on in Australia for the next few months due to the pandemic it was a no-brainer to book a flight to Europe to compete with one of the most established and respected teams at one of the highest levels of racing.
“I’ve raced multiple seasons in World Supersport, including another replacement rider gig in 2020, so I know two of the three tracks I’m going to next.
“Barcelona will be a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to it! I have to say a big thank you to the team as racing in world Superbikes has been a goal since I first came to Europe in 2014. Can’t wait to get stuck in next week!“
Epis will be the fourth different rider to occupy the KawasakI ZX-10RR alongside regular racer Loris Cresson, following on from Samuele Cavalieri, Luke Mossey and Jayson Uribe.
