Jonathan Rea made it six WorldSBK pole positions from six attempts as he made a little bit of history as the first rider to clinch Superpole around the Most Autodrom.

This weekend’s marks the first time WorldSBK has made the trip to the Central European venue, while it is the first time the series has visited the Czech Republic since the most recent event in Brno in 2008.

Despite the unfamiliar ground, Rea was still at his sharpest around the high-speed track, rebuffing a charge by WorldSBK title rival Toprak Razgatlioglu to snatch the top spot in the final moments of the session.

Ending the session with a 1m 31.684secs to hold the Turkish rider off by just a tenth of a second, Rea will start Race 1 and the Superpole Race from pole position.

Behind Razgatlioglu, Scott Redding remains poised in third position on the factory Ducati despite ceding half-a-second to Rea out front, while Tom Sykes rediscovered some of his best Superpole form to place the factory BMW M 1000 RR into fourth place.

Fresh from his breakthrough podium in Assen, Andrea Locatelli followed up that momentum with fifth positon on the grid, ahead of Yamaha counterpart Garrett Gerloff on the GRT machine.

Leon Haslam headed up the Honda challenge in seventh position, ahead of Ducati’s Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Kawasaki’s Alex Lowes, while privateer Motocorsa Ducati rider Axel Bassani was an impressive tenth fastest.

Elsewhere, wildcards Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika - running inside the top ten on Friday - slipped back to 12th and 13th respectively on their YART Yamaha R1s
