WorldSBK Teruel SP Race Results: Confidence boosting with for Redding
Ducati's Scott Redding regains some initiative by defeating Jonathan Rea in a fast and furious sprint in the Superpole Race at Motorland Aragon
Scott Redding fought back with a confidence boosting win in the WorldSBK Superpole Race at Teruel (Motorland Aragon) after coming out on top of a fierce battle with Jonathan Rea.
Bidding the reclaim some ground after a crash in race one dropped him 30 points off the Kawasaki man, Redding came out fighting in the short 10 lap sprint to mug Rea with an aggressive pass on the opening revolution.
Proceeding to defend hard from Rea’s rebuttals, Redding held on to complete his fourth win of the season, in so doing becoming the first person other than the defending champion to win a Superpole Race in 2020. The gap between the pair now sits at 27 points.
Race one winner Michael Ruben Rinaldi couldn’t quite stay with the leaders this time but notched up only his second career podium with a run to third, ahead of Alvaro Bautista, who notched up another promising result for Honda after fending off the attentions of a charging Chaz Davies in fifth.
Alex Lowes and Toprak Razgatlioglu fought over fourth early in the race before fading back down to sixth and seventh respectively, with Leon Haslam and Tom Sykes clinging onto eighth and ninth to ensure they maintain a spot on the third row for the second race.
