Triumph Tiger Models Benefit from New Plug-in Charging Battery
Triumph Tiger 900 and 1200 models can now benefit from the new plug-in charging battery from OptiMate

Owners of the latest Triumph Tiger 900 and 1200 models can now charge and maintain the 12V starter battery more effectively through the 12V DIN socket, courtesy of the OptiMate 4 Quad Premium system.
The 12V DIN accessory socket is situated near the handlebars on the 900 models built from 2020 onwards and Triumph’s 1200cc range from 2022-on, and it will now stay live even when the ignition has turned off.
This means the bike’s battery can be charged without having to connect to the battery terminals, so long as you have the right charger and cable.
The OptiMate 4 Quad Premium charger comes with a cable that is fitted with a 12mm DIN plug at one end, and a heavy duty SAE connector at the other.
The new charging battery system is also supplied with a regular battery connection cable and is suitable for all 12V bike battery types, including lead acid (Pb), STD (with filler caps), AGM, GEL (sealed VRLA) and lithium (Li-Ion made with LiFePO4/LFP technology).

You can simply toggle between modes to choose what is right for you, with Program 1 giving you lead acid, while Program 3 offers the lithium option. OptiMate claims the battery can also recover a ‘dead’ unit from a voltage as low as 0.5V. It's IP54 weatherproof and rated for use down to -40°C, so it’s safe to be used outside.
Some previous Triumph models also feature a 12V power outlet that remains live when the ignition is switched off, which allows the battery to be charged using the OptiMate 4 Quad Premium. This can be checked with a multimetre if you are unsure whether your bike is compatible.
Price-wise the OptiMate 4 Quad Premium comes in at £93.90 including VAT. Visit optimate.co.uk for more information.
