Two Men Riding Motorcycles Arrested for Illegal Activity
Two men have been caught and arrested by the Roads Police Unit and NPAS in the Bolton area
The two men, aged 21 and 17, were both riding motorcycles and were reported to be engaging in illegal activity which led to a police investigation and capture of both criminals.
Along with the NPAS (National Police Air Service), the Roads Police Unit in Bolton was made aware of the two men causing a nuisance on 17 February during the morning at around 10am, before the capture and arrest of both men took place that same day.
Prior to the arrest of both men on 17 February, additional reports had been made of males riding in a dangerous manner around pedestrians, harassing the public and causing criminal damage.
Both riders arrested had been seen weaving in and out of traffic in a dangerous manner while being pursued by the police in a car chase. One of the riders in question dumped his bike before getting caught, while the other tried to evade the police on his bike before a slow head-on collision took place, bringing down the criminal before his arrest.
The two males were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, possession of an offensive weapon, failing to stop and dangerous driving. They remain in custody for questioning. The motorcycle that was used by the offender trying to escape on his bike has been seized and will be disposed of.
Chief Inspector Michael Parker, from GMP’s Road’s Policing Team, said: “We know just how much people are annoyed by off-road bikes and similar vehicles, which can be a complete nuisance and even danger to responsible road users.
“Whenever we receive reports of them being used illegally, we will always look to take action, as we know that is exactly what the public wants. Today’s fantastic result shows the array of resources we have at disposal: specialist drivers, riders, police dogs, and a brilliant helicopter team. Anyone thinking about engaging in criminality on these bikes should definitely think twice.”
