MotoGP bosses have confirmed that the 2024 Valencia GP will not go ahead, after the region, and much of Spain battles deadly and devastating flooding.

In a statement released today, MotoGP organisers have confirmed that they will not race in Valencia, but instead race for Valencia, stating that “the championship will put our collective efforts behind backing the relief funds already in place to ensure our positive impact can connect with the area”.

Much of Spain has been hit by extreme weather for the past week, with the Valencia region being one of the worst hit. Indeed some parts of the Ricardo Tormo circuit have been completely washed out, with access roads collapsing and huge amounts of damage making it difficult to see how a grand prix weekend could go ahead.

On-track action at the venue was due to start on November 15 with the grand prix set to take place on Sunday, November 17. Malaysia will now become a springboard for the fundraising effort, as organisers try to ensure a positive impact can be made for the people and communities affected by the extreme weather.

At the time of writing no replacement round has been confirmed, although Dorna is looking to source a new venue, and will communicate dates once details are finalised.
