New Enfield twin!
Unfortunately it's not official but console yourself by watching it spit flames
ROYAL Enfield is already known to be working on a twin-cylinder machine as its home bike market in India matures and becomes wealthier but for those who can't wait there's this – the latest take on the Musket V-twin.
We've reported on the Musket, made by Aniket Vardhan, in the past, but this is his latest, redesigned version of the 998cc engine. The V-angle has dropped from 70 degrees to just 59 degrees, making the motor easier to install, and the custom-made crankcase is designed so it can be used with either Bullet 350 or 500 top-ends, making 700cc or 1000cc versions possible.
You can check out the progress on the project at Vardhan's blog, www.musketvtwin.com
The question now is whether his engine will be ready to be sold to the public before Enfield gets its own new twin – which is likely to be a parallel twin of around 750cc – ready, probably in around 2015.
