Following on from the 125 and 390 SMC R supermotos we revealed last week, KTM is adding two more bikes to its range, the CBT-compliant 125 Enduro R and A2-ready 390 Enduro R.

The two bikes are a bit of a rarity in the modern motorcycle landscape, in that they are both lightweight and credible off-road bikes, with 21-inch front wheels, for riders on the lowest two restricted licences. Sure there are other A1 and A2 scramblers and off-roaders on the market, but looking at the specs and features alone, there’s little else that can come close to the two KTMs.

The new 125 uses the same engine as found in the 125 SMC R, meaning the heart of the bike is a single-cylinder four-stroke with Euro5+ certification. Peak power is a quoted 14.7 bhp at 10,000rpm, while peak torque is 8.4lb ft at 7,750rpm. Feeding the engine is a Bosch fuel injection system which utilises an electronic throttle, while the power is passed to the wheel via a six-speed gearbox which features a slipper clutch.

The engine is cradled in a steel trellis main and sub-frame, with a non-adjustable WP Apex open cartridge 43mm fork at the front, and a WP Apex Split Piston shock at the rear. The stated travel at both ends is a hefty 230mm, while the weight of the bike in ‘Ready to Race’ trim is a pithy 152kg.

The braking system for the bike features a ByBre two-piston caliper and 285mm disc at the front and a ByBre single-piston caliper and 240mm disc at the rear. Linked to the brakes is a two-channel ABS which allows you to disconnect the ABS to the rear wheel for more enthusiastic off-road riding.

For such a lightweight bike, the baby Enduro R manages to pack some useful tech, with KTM chucking its full-colour TFT dash at the bike, meaning Bluetooth connectivity brings things like turn-by-turn navigation, calls, music and more.

The new 125cc off-roader from KTM will be rolling into dealerships in 2025 with a price of £4,899.

As with the SMC R models we featured last week, much of the frame, chassis, and bodywork is shared between the two new Enduro models. Internally, though, there are some important changes between the two bikes.

Starting with the suspension, the 390 boasts the same WP Apex 43 mm open cartridge fork as the 125 but gains compression and rebound damping adjustability (30 steps) at the front, and adjustable rebound (20 steps) at the rear - as well as the manual preload. The braking system on the 390 is the same as the 125, and the option to disable the rear ABS is also still a feature.

The engine of the 390 is a big step up from the CBT-compliant machine noted above, with the 398.7cc unit peaking at a handy 44bhp and 28lb ft of torque. The increase in performance between the two models should be quite significant, especially given that the 390 version of the Enduro R tips the scales at 159kg ready to ride - just 7kg more than its 125cc sibling.

The 390 Enduro R offers two riding modes, Street and Off-road. Street keeps the rear wheel in check with a more intrusive traction control setting to minimize wheel slip. Off-road relaxes the traction control, allowing the rear wheel to spin and the front wheel to lift, helpful if you need to get over bigger obstacles on the trail. For more confident riders, the 390 Enduro R also allows you to disengage the traction control altogether, and it also boasts a memory feature which retains the last used mode when you key off the ignition, returning the bike to that mode when you turn it back on.

The new 2025 KTM 390 Enduro R will be landing in UK dealerships later this year with a price of £5,699.
