Can-Am has today announced that its two new electric motorcycles are available to preorder through participating BRP dealerships across much of the EU.

That means potential customers of the on-road Pulse and adventure-biased Origin can be ordered now in France, Germany, Spain, the UK, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Austria, as well as the United States, and Canada across the pond.

Aside from the opening of preorders now beginning, the press release from Can-Am also gives us some of the specs and features of the two models, something that until now has been unknown.

Can-Am Pulse

Starting with the Pulse, which is a slick looking city bike or outer urban roadster. It sits on KYB suspension giving 140mm of travel, and features Normal, Sport, ECO and Rain riding modes. The Origin, which is a lightweight adventure bike, adds to that platform dual sport tires, more ground clearance and full KYB suspension with 255mm of travel up front and adjustability in the rear to enable the rider to tune the ride. It also gains Off-Road and Off-Road+ riding modes, which we assume feature reduced intervention levels of the traction control and ABS.

Both machines utilise an 8.9kWh battery, which Can-Am claims can provide the Pulse with 100, and the Origin 90 with miles of range if ridden in the city. Both machines are powered by an 11kW (15bhp) electric motor, capable of propelling the Pulse to a claimed 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds.

Speaking about the two new models, José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP, said:

“Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry … 50 years ago, Can-Am celebrated many victories with its Track ’n Trail motorcycles, and we are bringing that pedigree back with a focus on modern electric power, connectivity and thrill. We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.”
