Crowdfunding Campaign for Injured Manx GP Racer Surpasses Initial Goal
Chris Moffitt crashed at the 2024 edition of the Manx GP and a crowdfunding page to aid with his recovery has been set up
A crowdfunding campaign has already far surpassed the initial goal as Chris Moffitt continues to recover from his injuries suffered at the 2024 Manx GP event.
The British racer was part of an accident at the 2024 Manx GP race and was in “serious condition” as he was transported to the Sid Watkins medical centre where he received treatment.
Moffitt, who was born on the Isle of Man, has remained at the Sid Watkins centre since the event took place in August, showing just how bad the injuries were. Seen wearing a neck brace, a GoFundMe page was set up to aid with Moffitt’s recovery and the initial goal of raising £10,000 has been well exceeded. In fact, as of this writing the campaign has risen to just over £16,200.
The Manxman fell heavily at Ballacrye during the Junior Manx Grand Prix and was said to be in a “serious condition” at the time of his accident. Along with the Junior class, Moffitt also competed in the lightweight class.
The fundraiser’s description says: “Chris Moffitt, a dedicated motorcycle racer from the Isle of Man, suffered severe injuries in a crash during the Manx Grand Prix, resulting in an ongoing recovery process at the Sid Watkins Centre in Liverpool,” the fundraiser’s description reads.
“After weeks of intensive treatment and rehabilitation, Chris is making progress but faces a long journey ahead, requiring extensive physical and mental therapy, along with visits to a hyperbaric chamber.
“With his sick pay coming to an end soon and over a year needed for recovery, Chris, who is not one to ask for help, now needs our support. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to alleviate his financial stress so he can fully focus on his healing journey.”
“Thank you for considering contributing to his recovery.”
