THE 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship travels to Donington Park this weekend for round three of the 2019 season and while the famed motorcycle racing venue is a familiar visit for most of the riders, for Scott Redding it will be the first time he has raced there in a decade.

Moreover, it is a return of significance for the Briton - riding the Be Wiser Ducati Panigale V4 R in his inaugural BSB season this year - as it comes 11 years after he assured his place in the history books as the youngest GP winner aged only 15 years and 170 days (a record that stood for more than 10 years).

Going on to become one of the UK's highest-profile GP racers, we look back at that day on 22 June 2008 when one fresh-faced teenager stole the headlines and became the - very unexpected - pride of Britain motorsport.

Developing his craft during the early days of his burgeoning two-wheel racing career competing in the CEV 125 class in Spain, Redding made his GP bow in 2008 with the BLU:sens Aprilia team and proved sensational out of the box with a front row start on his debut in Qatar.
