Petition started to ban ‘Polite’ bike vests
Change.org petition calls on David Cameron to ban the sale and use of hi-viz vests that make riders look like police officers
HI-VIZ ‘Polite notice’ vests seem to be an increasingly commonplace sight on Britain’s roads, but because the fluorescent tabards look like they might be police uniform, they are loathed by many who feel that riders are using them as a way of impersonating the police.
Now a petition on Change.org is calling for David Cameron to ban the sale and use of ‘Polite’ bike wear.
The petition was started yesterday by Ed Elliott because the vests are ‘destroying the cool biker look’. The short accompanying description claims that ‘Bikers have been replaced by yellow minions’ and that ‘These individuals pretend they are the police… It’s not big and it’s not clever.'
The petition currently has 99 supporters and a collection of comments from people who hate the ‘Polite’ vests.
Last year we spent three weeks riding round in a ‘Polite notice’ waistcoat – here’s what we thought.
