Rare superbikes go up for sale
If you're after the ultimate trackbike, step inside
VISORDOWN HAS dug out some rare and interesting Superbikes that are up for sale.
January sales don't just apply to sofas and women's clothes; a quick scan of the latest eBay listings shows there's currently a rash of end-of-line race bikes looking for new owners as teams off-load last year's models.
Fancy a decent BSB-spec machine? At the moment £35k will secure you one of two Swan Honda Fireblades from last year's championship or £25k will grab Simon Andrews' 09/10 Kawasaki ZX-10RR. For a bit less you can pick up a BSB Evo-spec bike; around £15k will get an R1 or GSX-R1000 that raced in the series last year.
Even less cash will still get you a piece of racing history, with William Dunlop's ex-TT, NW200 and Ulster GP 2010 GSX-R1000 up for only £8995.
At the other end of the scale, if you're a banker with the tricky dilemma of trying to work out just what to spend your latest bonus on, there's some more classic race machinery out there, too. How about an ex-Chili WSB Ducati 916, with victories at Monza and Brands Hatch under its belt? Just £45k to you, sir. Or Steve Hislop's last racer, the 2003 Virgin Yamaha R1? At £24k it seems a bargain.
The bikes for sale include the:
2009 MSS Colchester Kawasaki British Superbike ZX-10R
William Dunlop's 2010 NW200 Suzuki GSX-R1000
2009 Swan Honda British Superbike Fireblade
Steve Hislop's 2003 British Superbike Yamaha YZF-R1
Chili's Race-winning 1994 WSBK Ducati 916
You owe yourself a present for all your hard work in 2010, don't you?
