The new extension means Hero MotoCorp will develop more motorcycles with Harley-Davidson in selected markets, which comes after two models have already been produced.

The first of those to arrive was the Harley-Davidson X440 with a single-cylinder engine that produces 27bhp and 28Ib ft of torque. The Scrambler-inspired motorcycle was then followed by a second collaboration between the two companies, which resulted in the Hero Mavrick 440.

The partnership has been a successful one to date, hence why both parties were eager to extend the agreement which will mean more motorcycles, yay!

The partnership between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp started in 2020 before the arrival of the Harley-Davidson X440 in 2023. The bike now features seven different colour options to choose from and comes with a price tag of 2.39,500 Indian Rupee (£2,250). The motorcycle is currently produced by Hero at the company’s facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan.

About the extended partnership, Hero added: “The extension of the existing collaboration between Hero and Harley-Davidson, which has been in place since October 2020, will expand the X440 motorcycle into new variants and develop and manufacture a new motorcycle.”

The agreement between both companies is similar to that of Bajaj and Triumph, where the former wanted to kickstart its journey into the premium motorcycle landscape, something another Indian brand in TVS also did with BMW.

Hero MotoCorp unveiled some of its new motorcycles at EICMA last November, but the continued efforts to team up with Harley will present customers with the best of both going forward. Hero’s primary motorcycle sales feature bikes in the 100-to-110cc range, while Harley specialises in much bigger bikes. But therein lies the scope to produce more middleweight models through this collaboration which is what the X440 and Mavrick 440 have done.
