UK motorcycle sales continue to grow
Year-to-date sales up 9.9% compared to same period last year
THE LATEST figures for new motorcycle registrations are out today and they show more growth for UK bike sales, with year-to-date figures for 2016 up 9.9% over the same period last year.
In April 2015 there were 10,153 new motorcycle registrations, while the same month in 2016 saw 11,500 new bikes registered – an increase of 13.3%.
The 126-650cc segment saw the biggest increase in growth for this period, thanks to a 20.4% increase in new registrations, although the 51-125cc segment continues to boast the highest number of new registrations, with 4,100 in April 2016.
Scooters and mopeds experienced a dip in registrations, with 8.7% less new scooters being registered in April 2016 compared to the same month last year.
Honda shifted the most bikes in April 2016 with 2,109, followed by Yamaha’s 1,732, then Triumph with 945 and then Lexmoto with 866.
