Anticipation has just been ramped up for the end-of-year EICMA show in Milan as MV Agusta’s CEO Hubert Trukenpolz has confirmed “something” is in the works regarding its naked motorcycle range.

As of March 2024 MV Agusta is under the Pierer Mobility group umbrella, which also owns KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS, after a 50.1% stake was bought by the Austrian firm. Not one of the biggest brands in the world in terms of number of bikes made, MV Agusta still holds a very special place in the motorcycle industry and its bikes are a thing of beauty.

Specialising in the naked range, the Brutale, Dragster and Rush bikes are all impressive but it’s the first two which could see changes coming their way.

Speaking to Motociclismo about which model will be the first to receive help from KTM, Trukenpolz said: “It hasn’t been decided yet which models but it will definitely be the Brutale or the Dragster. From our point of view, the Brutale is one of the most important products in the MV Agusta range. However, it will certainly be a three-cylinder with a new engine.”

MV Agusta’s Brutale range currently has five models which include the 798cc R and RR machines, while its 1000cc Brutale range consists of the 1000RS, 1000RR and 1000RR ‘Assen’ edition.

Regarding its Dragster range, three models currently exist with the RC, RR SCS and RC SCS. So which of these is going to receive an upgrade? Trukenpolz was in no mood to make that clear, but he did say it could be a three-cylinder, therefore ruling out the 1000cc Brutale machines.

“It’s really under consideration at the moment,” he said. “Which of the new three-cylinders will be the first? Could it be a Brutale, Dragster or something different? It hasn’t been decided yet but one of these will be the new bike. Obviously we’ll be at the EICMA, we can’t not be there with an Italian bike.”

But it’s not all about the Brutale and Dragster as development towards a new Superveloce appears to be underway, according to comments made from Trukenpolz: “Basically in naked bikes: renewing the Brutale and Dragster requires a lot of time and investment. Then we go in the direction of the Superveloce, a very important bike for us and for next year.

“For sure, we will use both three-cylinder and four-cylinder engines. We are happy with this last engine. It is balanced, powerful and it has more than 200bhp. We have to make it compliant with anti-pollution emissions. In many ways it is a real challenge but it can be done.”
