THE official BMW Motorrad Instagram account has dropped a teaser image that is widely believed to be the incoming R 1300 GS adventure motorcycle.

It’s no secret that BMW is feverishly beavering away as it prepares its next-gen’ R 1300 GS adventure motorcycle for launch in the coming year – we’ve covered the spy shots here on Visordown fairly extensively, after all.

What isn’t yet known about the model is when it will officially be revealed, what it will look like, or what the final specification of the machine will be.

And while those above questions are still unanswered, we have this week got the first official look at the bike; or what is widely being touted as the bike anyway! The post arrived on social media this week and simply shows a motorcycle on a podium draped in a sheet with the words ‘COMING 2023’ above the bike. The text accompanying the post reads: ‘The #100YearsBMWMotorrad celebrations have already begun and we cannot wait to reveal what else we have in store for you! … Take a guess of what is coming and stay tuned ’

The spy shots purporting to be the new R 1300 GS we ran earlier this year.

With no other information about the bike, we can only go by the silhouette of the bike, which, if you squint a bit, could well be that of the much-reported R 1300 GS ADV machine. From the picture, you can imagine that tall screen, large riders and pillion seats, and rear indicators all protruding from the covering.

Another hint as to what lies beneath lies in what 2022 means for BMW Motorrad. As the brand gears us to celebrate its 100th anniversary, having first produced motorcycles in the early 1920s, it’s easy to imagine that the firms most successful two-wheeler of the modern age will be right at the heart of the celebration.
