You might think that half-price deals can only be found in supermarkets or furniture superstores, but there’s now one such offer in the motorcycle world. Well, sort of.

Ducati’s 50-2-50 deal lets you put down a 50 per cent deposit on one of a number of bikes, and pay diddly squat else for the next two years. At the end of that period, you have three options: Pay an optional final repayment and keep the bike, part exchange and choose something else, or return without parting with the final repayment and walk away.

The deal was initially launched with the Scrambler 800 Icon, Nightshift and Full Throttle but has since expanded. Now, it covers every Monster model apart from the 30° Anniversario (that titbit was tucked away in the T&Cs), the Streetfighter V2, and the Streetfighter V4

Ducati motorcycles are far from the cheapest out there, so this seems a great way to soften the financial blow without signing up for a more conventional finance deal with monthly payments and ending up coughing up extra thanks to the joys of APR. The cheapest bike covered by the deal is the Scrambler Icon, which is normally £9,995, so this way you’d be able to ride one way from the dealership for a shade under £5,000.

Alternatively, it gives the normally £21,595 charged for the bonkers 205bhp Streetfighter V4 a more palatable initial outlay of £10,797.50, giving you a couple of years to siphon funds away from other aspects of your life and save the rest.
