MV Agusta F4 RC revealed (and this time it’s official)

MV Agusta has now officially confirmed that 250 lucky – and wealthy – buyers will be able to get their hands on the 212hp F4 RC later this year.

Finished in WSB-rep paintwork, the RC will apparently be hand-assembled (aren’t all MVs?) and features magnesium engine covers to save weight and titanium bolts and screws replace steel ones wherever possible, a move that by itself saves 1.1kg.  Tweaks to the intake and exhaust raise power to 205hp (from 201hp) in road form, and that’s upped to 212hp once the race kit exhaust is fitted and matching ecu settings are applied.

As we’ve come to expect these days, there’s a plethora of engine maps and the ability to adjust everything from the throttle sensitivity to the peak torque and engine braking levels, plus 8-level traction control and electronic gearshift assistance. You’ll be the fastest guy at the bar, if nowhere else.

The frame is TIG welded by hand, with an adjustable swingarm pivot position in case you want to get involved in the really extreme end of suspension adjustment. Of course, the top end Ohlins NIX 30 forks and TTX36 shock also allow more tweaks than most of us can even imagine. The opportunities for the inept spanner-wielder to ruin the RC’s handling must be spectacular.

Forged wheels, a lightweight Li-Po battery and carbon bodywork help make the bike 7kg lighter than the F4RR, and that’s a saving that’s nearly doubled to 13kg once the race kit is fitted, thanks to a titanium Termignoni exhaust and the removal of bits like the mirrors and numberplate hanger.

And the cost of all this? Just €36,900 to you, sir.
