The new bike follows in a long line of small capacity and sporty scooter from the Italian brand, and brings together sporty dynamics and technology, with full LED lighting, digital dash, connectivity, and start-stop functionality.

Unlike the legendary Aprilia SR50 scooter, the bike that literally launched a million motorcycle riding careers, the new SXR 50 is powered by a single-cylinder four-stroke engine and is aiming for a more grown-up audience. The frame of the bike is a single-cradle structure made of tubular steel and elements in moulded sheet metal for added rigidity, key to achieving the sporty handling dynamics that made Aprilia’s scoots’ so popular across the years.

The front suspension is a telescopic fork, while there is a five-position adjustable rear shock completing the suspension set up. The 12” wheels are fitted with 120/70 tyres and the brakes comprise a 220mm front disc and twin-pot caliper and a 140mm drum at the rear.

Aprilia is launching a range of comfort and functionality increasing accessories, including a larger screen, rubber mats for the running boards, leg cover, and an antitheft system. The range of accessories is completed by the Aprilia MIA connectivity system that lets you connect your smartphone to the vehicle via Bluetooth.

We are awaiting confirmation of when the new SXR 50 will be arriving in dealerships, although the price has already been confirmed as £2,400.
