R1600C cruiser concept
The cruiser BMW should make
IF there’s a notable absence in BMW’s broad range of bikes, it’s probably of a cruiser.
It’s a market other bike makers are exploiting with an ever-more diverse range of machines, from Ducati’s XDiavel to Triumph’s Bobber.
So maybe it’s time BMW brought us a successor to its R1200C, the cruiser it made until 2005.
BMW accessories specialist Wunderlich thinks so, but with a 1600cc boxer engine replacing the 1200.
The German accessories firm has gone to the trouble of producing these concept pictures to show us what the R1600C might look like.
With Wunderlich’s likely insider knowledge, it could even be a clue that something is on the way from BMW.
Wunderlich said in a press release: ‘A model has been hanging in the air for a while now that for many has embodied the American style of riding BMWs and which fans and insiders have longed for: The successor to the BMW R 1200 C. However: No news from Munich!
‘That’s why together with our designer Nicolas Petit, we’ve given a lot of thought to the topic.
‘The result is a brilliant, timely interpretation of the R 1200 C with red-hot technical features and innovative, refined design details. Even while standing it’s an ambitious riding machine that radiates power and sovereignty! Fired up by a 1600 cc flat twin! A consequently refined, independent cruiser that carries the genes of our highly regarded Wunderlich SpeedCruiser - and it shows!
‘If the Bagger is an American sedan, our concept bike is a muscle car: It can cruise!
‘But it can do a lot more!’
