The Italjet Dragster 559 Twin comes from a partnership with the Malossi Racing Academy, and it might just be the ultimate performance scooter.

Performance scooters really are nothing new, in fact, ever since the dawn of the ‘Mod’ roundel, enthusiasts have found ways to eke ever more performance out of their diminutive machines. The Italians though are taking things to the extreme, as the Italjet Dragster 559 Twin is revealed.

Before we ever get to the specs, starting with the styling of the bike. It’s easily the most imposing and eye-catching scooter we’ve probably ever seen. Looking like a Panigale had a drunken one-night stand with step-through 125; it’s long, low and menacingly imposing.

Beneath that aggressive bodywork lies an all-new frame, engine, and suspension system, that centres around a liquid-cooled 4-stroke twin-cylinder 559cc engine. Claimed performance figures for the unit are equally as impressive 57 bhp and 40 lb-ft of torque.

The bike has been wholly designed and developed by Italjet's design centre in Castel Guelfo di Bologna, and one of the standout features its design team went with was a six-speed transmission, something never seen in the modern world of performance scooters.

And right now if you are thinking ‘Well none of that matters, it’ll never make it into production…’, you’re wrong! Italjet is planning to release the bike to the market in 2024, and it’s slated to arrive in both A2 (47bhp) and full-powered A licence versions. Pricing is, at the time of writing, unknown, but we’ll keep on badgering Italjet’s PR rep’ until they get fed up and spill the beans. Italjet is though saying the new bike will be ‘highly competitive within the market.’
