Official: Miguel Oliveira to Miss Austin MotoGP
It’s official, Miguel Oliveira will miss the American MotoGP in Texas, with Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez confirmed in his place

A shoulder injury suffered at the Argentina MotoGP has led to Miguel Oliveira being ruled out of the upcoming American Grand Prix in Texas.
Oliveira suffered an injury to his left sternoclavicular joint when he was hit by Ducati rookie Fermin Aldeguer during last Saturday’s Argentine Sprint.
The Pramac Yamaha rider, who had endured a difficult start to the 2025 campaign, will be replaced by official Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez, with the Spaniard making his first competitive appearance of the year.
Fernandez had initially been called up by the Pata Yamaha World Superbike team to replace six-time world champion Jonathan Rea, after the Northern Irishman was injured in a pre-season test at Philip Island. But the former Moto2 world champion and KTM MotoGP rider will instead compete in MotoGP as both championships take place on the same weekend (28-30 March).
"First of all, I want to thank the team and the doctors who treated me,” Oliveira said.
“After returning home, I had an MRI that detected a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint with ligament rupture.
“Obviously, we discussed the fastest recovery options, and it was decided to keep the arm immobilised for some time. The time of return is unpredictable because we have to await my body's biological response. We will evaluate every week how the situation is.
"We are working on returning to the track as soon as possible, but above that we will focus on my recovery and getting back to 100% fitness."
