For years people have longed for Triumph to just do the decent thing and stick a fairing on its chart-topping Speed Triple 1200, which would result in what many believe to be the ultimate British-built sports bike.

Sadly, for all of us, the bosses at the Hinkley factory don’t see a future in large capacity sportsbikes anymore. Thankfully, some people who don’t work for Triumph, still do. This bike is the result of curiosity and craftsmanship, and as we dig into the listing for the sale, it’s clear there is much more going on here than simply slapping a race fairing on the 1160cc naked.

Firstly, the standard handlebars are replaced with clip-ons mounted beneath the top-clamp, with Lightech rearsets completing the racy riding position. The Brembo braking system is retained, while new braided brake lines have been used to work with the new handlebar position. Mechanically, the bike gains a Zard full-system racing exhaust, while a Woolich remap helps to boost power to a claimed 187bhp at the wheel - the claimed power for a 1200 RS of this era is just under 180bhp. The vendor for the sale also states that all deletes possible, including secondary air and evap', have been made, while a DNA race air filter and surface discharge race plugs have been used.

With all the road-legal equipment deleted from the bike, it's claimed to tip the scales around 10kg under the stock machine’s 198kg, and should you want to put it back into its naked configuration, all the parts to do this are included in the sale.

One tantalising aspect of the bike is its price; given that a brand-new (and still naked) Speed Triple 1200 RS is priced at £17,495, the £12,999 asking price for the bike pictured here seems like good value for money. And you’re guaranteed to turn heads at every trackday you arrive at.

You can check out the eBay listing for the bike here.
