Jorge Martin Cleared to Make MotoGP Return in Qatar
Jorge Martin is expected to make his MotoGP return at this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix

Jorge Martin will be in action for the first time this season as he makes his MotoGP return at the Qatar Grand Prix this weekend, pending a potential medical check on Thursday to give him the final all-clear.
Martin has so far had to watch from afar as Marc Marquez and Ducati have dominated the opening races of 2025, but the reigning world champion is set to give Aprilia a much-needed boost.
The Italian manufacturer has not had a bad start to the current campaign, however, the best performances aboard the RS-GP have come from Trackhouse Racing rookie Ai Ogura, not the factory team.
But Martin, who suffered three fractures in his left hand on top of existing fractures in his right hand and left foot during the preseason, is now set for a return at the Lusail International Circuit this weekend.
Martin has already been cleared to compete, although he’ll be required to undergo another medical evaluation at the circuit, which will be carried out by MotoGP Medical Director Ángel Charte.
Charte is the only medical figure that has the authority to grant him the official clearance to take part in Friday’s opening practice session, after which he will undergo further assessments.
Following his latest check-up, Martin then took to social media and shared a photo on his Instagram showing himself training on a bicycle in Andorra, which is the area of Spain where he currently resides.
Aprilia has so far relied heavily on Marco Bezzecchi for results when it comes to the factory team in 2025, but the Italian, like Martin, was also new to the RS-GP25, so performances have been a little inconsistent to start the season.
Friday Practice for the Qatar MotoGP gets underway at 13:45pm (UK time), before second practice starts at 18:00pm. Saturday’s sprint, which follows the final practice and qualifying, is also an 18:00pm start time, with Sunday’s Grand Prix also getting underway at the same time.
