Energica has announced a new partnership with Petronas Lubricants International, which will see the Malaysian brand as a major sponsor of Energica’s race team in the MotoAmerica Super Hooligan series.

Energica and Petronas Lubricants’ partnership will begin this weekend, at the next round of the MotoAmerica series at The Ridge, where the Energica Eva Ribelle RS of Tytlers Cycle Racing’s Stefano Mesa will sport Petronas logos and the green colour with which the Malaysian brand is well-associated.

Since the opening round of Super Hooligan at Daytona back in February, Energica has been entered as the sole electric manufacturer in the series, competing against twin-cylinder internal combustion engine machines with no more than 125 horsepower in stock form and which are no smaller than 750cc, such as the Indian Chief.

Energica has already made history this year in the Super Hooligan category, as its Eva Ribelle RS, in the hands of the aforementioned Mesa, finished in the top 10 at Daytona, becoming the first electric bike to do so.

Giampiero Testoni, CTO of Energica Motor Company, said: “We’re making history once again. Racing has always been in our DNA from the very beginning, and after making history in MotoE for four years, we accepted a new challenge alongside Tytlers Cycle Racing.

“What makes this even more incredible is to have a powerhouse like Petronas Lubricants International alongside us to lay a new milestone in motorsport history.”

Hezlinn Idris, Managing Director and Group CEO of PETRONAS Lubricants International, said: “Petronas Lubricants International is constantly exploring ways to support the rapidly developing EV industry, including in the motorsport scene.

“This partnership opens opportunities for us in the development of EV fluids that cover all types of electric vehicles including trucks, light commercial vehicles, passenger cars and motorbikes. It is a testament to our ability of customising bespoke solutions for the full range of fluid applications in electrified powertrains.”

Along with the sponsorship of the Energica-backed Tytlers Cycles Racing team in the MotoAmerica Super Hooligan class, Petronas Lubricant’s new partnership with Energica has made it an official industrial partner of the Italian manufacturer.
