Jack Miller has joked he tends to fall asleep when he attempts to watche a Formula 1 race as he shrugged off the prospect of ‘doing a Valentino Rossi’ and lapping in an F1 car.

Last week, MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi swapped seats with six-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton as part of a sponsorship event arranged through Monster Energy. The much-publicised stunt saw Rossi get behind the wheel of a 2017-spec Mercedes W08, with Hamilton riding the Yamaha M1.

It was a spectacle that didn’t excite Rossi’s MotoGP rival Miller, admitting F1 doesn’t ‘blow him away’, adding that he is more likely to drift off rather than watch it to the end.

“It's really not something that blows me away,” he told Motorsport-Total. “It's certainly nice, but for me there are many other things I would like to do before trying an F1 car, for example driving a rally car."

"Don't get me wrong. If the possibility arises tomorrow, of course I would say yes. But if I had to prioritize it, I wouldn't be at the top.

"It was a good race and I had a great time watching it live. It was fun and I met great people [but] normally my Sunday ritual is like this: I turn on the television to watch the race, I fall asleep and wake up to see the end.”

Miller, who is backed by Red Bull, enjoyed his strongest MotoGP campaign thus far in 2019 with a run to eighth overall and five podiums results. He will ride a spec-version of the Ducati GP20 as part of the Pramac Ducati team.
