Raul Fernandez has already been back in MotoGP action just a few days after suffering a massive crash at the official Sepang test.
The Trackhouse Racing rider, who heads into the 2025 season as the most experienced Aprilia rider following big changes at the Noale brand during the off-season, was one of three riders that suffered injuries on day one of the Sepang test before undergoing surgery in Barcelona.
At the time of his fall there was no footage of the crash, but that has since surfaced and quite frankly it’s a miracle that Fernandez is back aboard a MotoGP bike this quickly.
The 2021 Moto2 runner-up was approaching turn nine as he lost control under braking and skidded along the track. Both Fernandez and his RS-GP went sliding along the ground for a lengthy period of time before eventually hitting the gravel.
Both Fernandez and the bike began to barrel roll through the air, with the bike taking the most impact. However, Fernandez came away with a fractured left foot and hand but has since been on track during day one of the Thai MotoGP test in Buriram, which is the final pre-season outing for teams and riders before the 2025 season gets underway at the same track.
Although a completely different fall to another Aprilia rider who suffered two fractures, that being world champion Jorge Martin, Fernandez showed once again how reliable modern race suits are thanks to unmatched technology and safety features. Fernandez wears Dainese leathers after recently switching from Alpinestars.
Footage of the Sepang crash can be seen below.
