There is a trend among content creators and racers to mount a tiny camera behind their visor, and quite frankly we at Visordown are very much behind this kind of activity.

Helmet cams are all good, and we regularly mount one on the chin-bar of a motorcycle helmet to help give you an idea of what riding a particular bike is like. Nothing, though, is quite like mounting the camera behind the visor of the helmet, and if you’re looking for a true riders-eye-view, it simply can’t be beaten.

The latest racer to take us behind the visor is Yamaha MotoGP racer Alex Rins. The six-time premier class winner has posted a behind-the-scenes look at what a day is like in the life of a factory Yamaha rider. The video begins with him exiting his car, and meeting his crew. And ends with a stunning partial lap of the beautiful Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with the soundtrack provided by a tortured crossplane four-cylinder engine as it howls its way through the rev range.

The 2024 MotoGP season has been a tricky one for Rins and the lacklustre Yamaha M1 MotoGP machine. With two DNFs in Grand Prix and a best finish in full-length GPs of 13th, Rins currently resides in 21st place in the world championship, 7 places adrift from his teammate, 2021 MotoGP World Champion Fabio Quaratararo.
