Miguel Oliveira Ruled Out of Qatar MotoGP
Miguel Oliveira has been ruled out of the upcoming Qatar MotoGP and his replacement has been named

Miguel Oliveira will miss a second MotoGP race weekend in succession as Pramac Yamaha has confirmed his replacement for the Qatar Grand Prix.
Oliveira injured his left shoulder in a collision with rookie Fermin Aldeguer in Argentina, and following a medical check, it’s been confirmed that the Portuguese rider won’t race in Qatar after already missing last weekend’s US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
Oliveira’s start to 2025 had already proved to be difficult after making the switch from Aprilia machinery to the Yamaha M1, but his latest injury has set him back even further as Augusto Fernandez will once again step in for the five-time MotoGP race winner.
Fernandez was initially expected to replace Jonathan Rea at the factory Yamaha team in WorldSBK on the same weekend, but when Oliveira was ruled out of the American MotoGP, the official test rider for the Japanese brand lined up alongside Jack Miller, while ex-BSB rider Jason O’Halloran instead replaced Rea at Portimao.

“After undergoing further medical examinations to assess the recovery progress of his left shoulder— injured in a crash during the sprint race in Argentina — Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP regrets to inform that Miguel Oliveira will unfortunately have to miss the Qatar GP as well, scheduled for the weekend of 13 April at the Lusail circuit.
“As was the case last weekend at the GP of the Americas, where he finished 13th in Sunday‘s race, Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP test rider Augusto Fernandez has been confirmed as his replacement.”
The Qatar MotoGP will be the fourth round of the 2025 season and it will take place from 11 to 13 April at the Lusail International Circuit.
