Suzuki enhances GSX-R1000 with new MotoGP colour scheme
The new replica models will be available from March
AT THE launch of its 2018 MotoGP livery, Suzuki has also revealed the new replica paint scheme for its 1000cc sportsbikes.
Unveiled at a pre-season MotoGP test at Sepang, the new livery is an evolution of Suzuki’s signature blue with bold white wording, but for 2018 adds a stealthy black to the usual yellow details.
The GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R will both be available in the Japanese manufacturer’s new race colours, but similarities with Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins’ GSX-RR racers do not stop there.
The GSX-R1000 inherits the MotoGP prototype’s VVT technology, which will allow it to produce strong low-down and midrange torque, without sacrificing top-end power. Other elements in the GSX-R’s engine that mimic the MotoGP bike include a finger-follower valve train and stacked intake funnels.
The GSX-R1000R, meanwhile, boasts MotoGP-derived electronic, comprising a 10-stage, lean angle-sensitive traction control system and launch control, plus cornering ABS and a bi-directional quickshifter and auto-blipper.
The MotoGP replica GSX-R1000R will cost £16,099, while the GSX-R1000 is priced at £13,599.
They will be available in dealerships from March, coinciding with the beginning of the MotoGP season.
