Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are getting back in the saddle for another motorcycle adventure, and fear not - there isn’t an electric motorcycle in sight!

The pair, who first released the bike adventure TV show Long Way Round in 2004, are planning to ride from Ewan’s homeland of Scotland to Charley’s home in London - and if that sounds too simple for you, the total distance of the trip is claimed to total 10,000!

With that in mind, the two riders are not going to be travelling as the crow flies, or staying in the UK. It’s been confirmed that the trip will see them cross the North Sea to Scandinavia, all the way up to the Arctic Circle and then down to the Baltics and through continental Europe.  They will then be nipping back over the English Channel two months later to finish their journey in England’s capital.

The last Boorman and McGregor adventure TV series was Long Way Up, which saw the two set off from Ushuaia in Argentina through South and Central America to Los Angeles in the United States. The series was met with good reviews from the mainstream media and critics, although motorcycle fans weren’t so keen on the choice of motorcycle that was selected. There might not be such issues this time, though, as they’ll be riding (and probably restoring along the way) vintage motorcycles, with Charley opting for an ‘Airhead’ BMW, and Ewan a Moto Guzzi - naturally!

“On a rather tricky, sandy bit of ‘Long Way Up,’ Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand!” said Ewan McGregor. “This is that trip. Rusty old bikes and 10,000 miles of Scandinavia, and Eastern and Central Europe. A big loop from my house in Scotland to Charley’s house in England. Long way home … magic.”

“It has been such a pleasure to get back on the road on motorcycles with my best friend Ewan,” said Charley Boorman. “We’ve talked about doing this trip on old bikes since the last one. Travelling around Scandinavia and Europe has been a blast on our beautiful bikes.”

The pair will be working alongside the trusted team of David Alexanian and Russ Malkin and the series is set to be screened on the Apple TV+ streaming platform once released.
