The bleak outlook for motorcycle dealers has hit home today after it’s been confirmed that Blade Motorcycles Swindon is to close down.

The dealership served a large proportion of marques, with the servicing and sales of bikes from Kawasaki, Honda, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha, all taking place at the dealership. It was also the site that was in the closest proximity to another Blade Motorcycles Dealership, with the Abingdon branch sitting just 25 miles or around 45 minutes away.

The actual reason for the closure hasn’t been confirmed, with a statement from the Blade Group, which is owned by Heritage Automotive, simply citing “ongoing financial challenges” which have led to the decision being taken.

The full statement from Blade Motorcycles reads:

“We want to let you know that Blade Motorcycles Swindon has now closed. This decision was not made lightly, while our passion for motorcycles and our dedication to serving you remain unwavering, the ongoing financial challenges of maintaining the Swindon site have made it unfeasible to continue.

“We understand this news may be unexpected, and we truly appreciate your understanding.

“To ensure you continue receiving exceptional service for your bike, we are consolidating our operations across nearby locations:

  • Ducati: Abingdon

  • Harley-Davidson

  • Honda: Abingdon and Stratford-upon-Avon

  • Triumph: Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon

“Thank you for being part of the Blade Motorcycles community. We look forward to supporting you at our other locations!”

The news of the closure of the Swindon showroom follows other notable dealership closures including Completely Motorbikes, Streetbike Halesowen, and Saltire Motorcycles of Edinburgh. It is worth noting though that the closure reported here only affects the Swindon brand, and all other sites are functioning as normal.
