BMW Motorrad Records Strongest Sales in 2024
BMW has posted its best year in terms of sales, shifting more than 200,000 bikes in 2024 worldwide
BMW proved to be a very popular brand in 2024, with the German company totalling a claimed 210,408 new bikes in the year.
Fairly predictably, the best sellers in the range were the R1300 GS and R 1250 GS for BMW while its home market of Germany was also, unsurprisingly, the biggest contributor to its success.
BMW reports that in Europe 118,727 new bikes were sold, making the region by far BMW’s most lucrative market. Sales in Germany were up eight per cent with 26,177 bikes finding new homes. France was the next best-performing country, with 20,693 units, followed by Italy, with 16,617 units, and then Italy with 13,009 units. Central Europe, which includes countries like Poland, Romania, Switzerland and Serbia among others, was also a big player for BMW, with 11,411 new bike sales coming from that region, a 12 per cent uplift on the previous year.
As mentioned, the big boxer twin adventure bikes were the best-sellers in the range, with the R1300 GS and R1250 GS adding a whopping 68,000 worldwide new bike sales to the pot. Of its four-cylinder bikes, the S1000 RR was the best seller with 11,610 shifted, while BMW goes on to say that the inline four-cylinder family (which encompasses the S1000 RR, M1000 RR, S1000 R, M1000 R, S1000 XR and M1000 XR) recorded 27,147 worldwide. The press release from BMW doesn’t divulge how many R18 models were sold, which is a shame.
Speaking about BMW’s record-setting sales, Markus Flasch, head of BMW Motorrad, said:
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our customers and community around the world for the tremendous trust they have placed in us once again in 2024. With the strongest sales result in company history, BMW Motorrad remarkably claims the 1st Place in the global Premium Motorcycle segment. Our market leadership in numerous segments and markets in based on our claim to innovation leadership, our highly attractive product offering as well as the consistent strategic focus on brand strength.
