Casey Stoner Awarded Hall of Fame Status
Two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner has been inducted into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame
Casey Stoner has joined five other members in becoming a 2025 inductee into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame, as he joins another MotoGP champion in Mick Doohan, who was previously awarded the same honour.
The Australian legend, who won MotoGP titles with Ducati (the Italian brand’s first-ever premier class championship win) and Repsol Honda is still considered one of the greatest riders to ever compete in the sport, despite other riders having many more titles to their names, including the likes of Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo and his compatriot Doohan.
Officially elevated to ‘Legend’ status as part of his induction into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame, Stoner is one of just four to receive that honour of all of its 99 members.
Joining Stoner as a 2025 inductee is two-time AMA Supercross champion Chad Reed, the Australian Women’s International Six Day Enduro Team, comprising Jemma Wilson, Jessica Gardiner, and Tayla Jones, Chris Matheson, an eight-time Top Fuel Motorcycle drag racing champion and the first rider to achieve a five-second pass on the quarter mile.
Additionally, Leo Geoghegan, a Gold Star champion and Japanese Grand Prix winner, recognised for his contributions to 1960s Australian motorsport, has been selected, as has David Sera, an eighteen-time national karting champion and finally John Sidney, who is known for his role as a speedway and NASCAR crew chief.
The Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame was first introduced in 2016 by the Australian Motorsport Council (AMC) and is constituted by Australia’s motorsport governing bodies across the five main motorsport disciplines which are automobile, motorcycle, karting, drag racing and speedway.
