Crazy Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R Turbo and Supercharged Collection is Available
A ten-strong collection of 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R turbocharged and supercharged motorcycles is available through eBay
All featuring the same black colourway, this unique bike collection features ten very rare turbo and supercharged 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R motorcycles, which are being offered collectively or separately.
Although the KZ1000 Z1R was way before my time, put turbo and supercharged in front of any model name and you’ll have me excited, and that’s exactly what this ten-strong bike lineup includes.
These bikes, currently being sold on eBay for $352,500 (roughly £278,250) were collected over the last few years by the same person and every one of the ten motorcycles comes with legal documents.
The man behind creating these turbo and supercharged bikes was a former Kawasaki exec, Alan Masek, who at the time was running a business called Turbo Cycle Company, which is where each bike underwent transformation.
The listing says: "I am offering for sale my unique, rare and significant collection of 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R Turbocharged and Supercharged motorcycles. I have been an avid car and motorcycle racer since the early 1970s, I'm no stranger to extremely fast vehicles.
“I always had a soft spot in my heart for Kawasaki's and owned and raced many over the last four decades. I acquired these forced induction Kawasaki's over the years but now it is time for someone else to enjoy and curate these marvellous and stunning motorcycles."
Regarding these ten bikes, eight of them are original Z1R-TC models, one is said to be a clone and the other is fully supercharged. 519 of these bikes were made but less than 100 are believed to still be in existence and drag racing was used for many of them.
It’s not clear how much you would need to spend to own just one of these but the seller is willing to do so, according to the listing which can be found on eBay.
