There’s no shortage of deals on Aprilia motorcycles right now, with prices being slashed across the Piaggio brand portfolio. If you’re happy with a pre-registered bike, though, you can save even more.

Just take the Aprilia Tuono 660. Currently, you can get an unregistered example for £9,100, a handy saving of £750, which isn’t to be sniffed at. A quick search of UK dealer stock however reveals that you can get a pre-registered but still completely unused version of the bike for over £2,000 less than the list price.

One dealer offering this is Colchester Kawasaki. Not only that, but there’s a choice of colours - Rush Grey, Torque Red or Acid Gold. Whichever you want to go for, the price is the same - £7,799, plus on-the-road costs.

For that, you’re getting a bike that’s a little hard to pigeonhole. Normally, we compare it to other middleweight naked bikes, but as you can see from these pictures, it’s not entirely nude, with a decent helping of bodywork giving some degree of protection from the elements while also making the bike look rather handsome. As Aprilia’s marketing people like to put it, often in block capitals for some reason: “IT'S NOT A NAKED, IT'S A TUONO”.

It’s not a purebred sports bike with clip-ons either, though. That’s left to the closely related RS660, which uses the same 270-degree crankshaft parallel twin producing 100bhp and a similar (very good, it must be said) chassis.

The Tuono instead features a much more upright riding position with a one-piece, low-rise handlebar. Granted, the RS660 is one of the more relaxed sports bikes in terms of geometry, but an even comfier bike using much of the same components has the making of an excellent all-rounder. One that won’t break the bank, should you grab this deal.
