Marc Marquez made a lightning start to the final MotoGP pre-season test of 2025, getting the better of his brother Alex Marquez as he led an all-Ducati top three in Buriram.

Lap times were very close throughout the day until the final hour arrived as the eight-time world champion clocked a time of 1:29.184s, which put him well over four tenths clear of the Gresini rider.

After ending the Sepang test quickest, Alex Marquez hit the ground running once again aboard his Desmosedici GP24, leading the way for most of the afternoon.

Talking of Ducati’s GP24, the world championship-winning bike from last year was the talk of the paddock as it appears as though both factory riders Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia were not impressed by the new engine in the GP25 bike.

For that reason, Marc Marquez and Bagnaia spent a lot of time riding a GP24-spec bike as well, which looks like it will be the case once the new season gets underway.

Like Alex Marquez, another impressive rider in Sepang who carried that form into day-one of the Thai test was VR46 rider Franco Morbidelli. The Italian rounded out the top three as he too was four tenths down on Marc Marquez.

Other standout performances came from the likes of Marco Bezzecchi, who despite being new to the Aprilia bike was able to be competitive against the three established Ducati riders ahead of him. Bezzecchi ended the day in fourth spot, one place ahead of KTM’s Pedro Acosta who was briefly fastest in the morning.

Perhaps the best performance of day-one went the way of Honda’s Luca Marini, as the Italian was able to slot into sixth spot, albeit he was seven tenths away from the time set by Marc Marquez. Just one place behind Marini was LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco.

So far, indications are pointing towards Honda having made big steps forward in 2025, which is also the case for Yamaha as Pramac’s Jack Miller was the highest placed rider for the Japanese company in tenth.

After undergoing surgery to repair a fractured left hand and foot following the Sepang test, Fernandez was back in action as he finished 19th out of 21 riders.
