Dainese launches Valentino Rossi track school and a COTA competition!
Dainese running Rossi-led track school at Misano in April, and a competition to meet him at the COTA MotoGP round
WE'D ALL like to get better at wobbling round a track, wouldn't we? And who better to help with that than (arguably) the best bike racer of all time - Mr Valentino Rossi? Seems unlikely, what with him being a genuine MotoGP legned and that - but there's a chance to do just that. Italian kit firm Dainese is running a track school at Misano circuit on April 17, and you can apply for a spot on the event.
There's a bit of a catch though - to get time with Rossi on the top 'VR46 Class', you need to enter a charity bid, with proceeds going to the Marco Simoncelli foundation. When we checked, the bids were up around €6,000 (about £24,000 at the Gatwick Airport Bureaux de Change), so it's poshos only it seems...
The next class down has some top riders though - Franco Morbidelli, Luca Marini, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Marco Bezzecchi in the 'Champions' class. You need to be able to get round Misano in under 1:55 for this one, and it costs £1,169. Next level down (Racing Class 2) is for folk who can do between 1:55 and 2:05, and costs £629. Over 2:05? Then you need Racing Class 1, at £449. Finally, there's a 'Safety Class', aimed at beginners looking to boost their bike control skills, for just £269 (level 2) or £129 (level 1).
Got that? Whichever class you sign up for, we imagine you might well spot VR wandering about and maybe catch a selfie with him. Misano's an awesome track too. You do need to provide your own bike too, so there's that to consider.
Still interested? (We can see you clicking through to the Rossi class, Bob Collins...) Then get yerself over to the Dainese Experience website: www.dainese.com/gb/en/corporate/dainese-experience/ . All the details are there.
• IN THE US? Then Dainese US is running a competition to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Circuit of the Americas MotoGP round, including a meet and greet with Rossi. Flights, tickets, hotel for two are all included, but you have to be in the US mainland to be eligible. Booh. Enter here!
