Honda’s A2 licence-friendly CMX500 and CMX500S models have received major updates for 2025.

‘Rider comfort, visual impact and LCD display’ are just some of the technical features that have been updated to the parallel twin-cylinder middleweight cruiser. The S version of the CMX500 gets everything that the standard bike gets but it's also rewarded with ‘factory-fitted’ accessories which include a headlight cowl, all-black fork covers and a diamond-stitch style seat.

Riders with A2 licence restrictions cannot ride a motorcycle with a higher output than 47bhp which fits in perfectly with the CMX500 as its liquid-cooled four-stroke engine with a displacement of 471cc, produces 45bhp and just under 32Ib ft of torque.

Both the CMX500 and S models are receiving one new colourway option with Matt Dim Metallic Grey joining the standard Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic that’s available on the CMX500. The S also shares the Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic colourway along with an all-new Candy Energy Orange paint scheme.

A big point of emphasis for Honda with the updated model is to provide better ride comfort and it has done this by introducing a new urethane foam material for the seat. The seat height for the rider is 690mm.

Both the pillion seat and footpegs are easily removable while a range of extra accessories are now available such as a rear rack, backrest, tank pads, flyscreen, nylon or leather saddlebags among others.

To accommodate the CMX500’s low-slung appearance, the chassis bolsters a tubular steel frame. For the suspension, 41mm telescopic forks, with 121mm of travel are paired with Showa twin shock absorbers on the rear.

The tubular steel swingarm comprises a 45mm diameter and works twin, nitrogen-charged shock absorbers that features five step preload settings and revised bump stop rubbers that have been reworked in order to provide a smoother ride.

Dunlop tyres are fitted as standard sized 130/90-16 front and 150/80-16 rear. The classical style of the 16-inch cast aluminium wheels is crisp and simple. The brakes include a single 296mm disc with Nissin axial-mount two piston calipers, with a single 240mm single piston caliper disc at the rear.
