Second on the all-time list for most Isle of Man TT wins, Joey Dunlop will be celebrated in 2025 as the famous race will stage an immersive Classic TT event to honour the man who achieved a memorable hat-trick in 2000 before he tragically died a few weeks later in a racing accident in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 2025 Classic TT will begin on 20 August before concluding on 29 August, when a special demonstration lap takes place, paying homage to Joey’s final TT. Riding in his honour will be his nephew, Michael Dunlop, as he takes to the TT roads aboard a replica of Joey’s 2000 factory Honda VTR SP1.

The celebration of Joey Dunlop will also include a TT podcast where fans will get to hear from John McGuinness, Michael Rutter, various key team members, commentators, and the Dunlop family as they unveil stories and behind-the-scenes moments from one of the TT’s most iconic races.

To further honour Joey’s legacy, a pop-up cinema will showcase some of the defining moments from his career. Fans can relive the 2000 Formula 1 TT race itself, while also revisiting his greatest triumphs at the TT.

The 2000 Isle of Man TT is well known in the mountain course’s history as Dunlop, already a  legend by that time, would go on to deliver one of his best performances. Racing a factory Honda SP1 in the Formula 1 TT, the face of road racing during his time would go on to beat the competition in spectacular fashion as he claimed a victory that remains one of the Mountain Course’s most celebrated moments.

Dunlop is second all-time when it comes to having the most Isle of Man TT wins, and perhaps fittingly, the only rider to surpass his tally of 26 is none other than his nephew, Michael. While 2025 will see his uncle remembered, Michael Dunlop will be hoping to use the 2025 edition of the Isle of Man TT to become the first rider ever to claim 30 wins around the mountain course. He is currently one away from doing so.
