Terrible floods on Monday have left the Jerez circuit partially flooded, with the start-finish straight and pit lane impacted the most.

As can be seen below, the floods appear to be extensive and have left parts of the circuit completely drowned out.

However, the floods have not caused serious damage, according to reports, and the circuit is expected to be fully operational in time for its next event, which is the Spanish Superbike Championship on 22-23 March. It has also been reported that as a result of the floods, the track had no electricity on Monday.

The cleanup process is expected to only take several days to complete which means the Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, scheduled to go ahead on 25-27 April, is not at risk of being moved.

Flooding in the Andalusian region comes just a few months after the Valencia circuit fell victim to similar issues. On that occasion the entry to the circuit was impacted the most which led to the season-finale being moved to Barcelona.

However, it wasn’t just the circuit that was damaged as hundreds of people lost their lives, while infrastructures were heavily damaged as were roads surrounding the Ricardo Tormo circuit.
